Let me introduce myself! My name is Kim Pelensky-Rimmer. I am pleased to be teaching your upcoming yoga classes. I’ve been teaching for the last seven years many different formats of yoga, some of the styles you may recognize and some are a western blend of formats. Over the years I’ve taught hatha, vinyasa flow, yin, yin/yang, yoga for strength, preschool yoga, youth yoga, sports yoga, pre/post-natal yoga, senior yoga and even chair yoga. I am a 200 ryt certified yoga instructor and also a certified personal trainer. I am currently teaching out of my home studio and for a figure skating club. My past history includes radiology technologist for twelve years which gives me a strong background in anatomy and injury prevention. My passion is sports of any type (running, biking, hiking, water sports, of course yoga and very poorly played tennis!) Yoga has enlightened my life and brought a calming presence to my soul. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for yoga with you!
All Classes held a Beulah Alliance Church (South Campus) 5055 Chappelle Road SW
The main achievement we are striving for is a balance of Mind – Body – Soul. Often easier said than done. The classes will vary in style between a Hatha and a Flow class. We will focus on body alignment, breathing and awareness of state of mind. Classes will be suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced yogis. Striving to bring peacefulness and stress relief into the class. Expect to work on flexibility, balance, breathing styles, mudras, strength…. Some classes may have an emphasis on back pain relief or perhaps hip openers, maybe tight shoulders, the list is endless.
PARENT / TOT YOGA:
Fun, fun and more fun! Main goal is for this to be a playful class. Yoga will be introduced thru games and themes; this will not look like a traditional yoga class. One week the theme might be jungle animals and creating poses based on those animals. Keeping the children engaged and excited about yoga is the goal. Creating moments of circle sharing (a kind comment to the person beside you, something you did today that was helpful….) Self-reflection and calmness in a non-rigid environment. With plenty of opportunities to dance our sillies out!!!
Introducing the students to the practice of yoga in an age appropriate manner is the goal. Learning basic poses, breathing patterns, and relaxation techniques to improve body flexibility, strength, fine and gross motor skills, improve concentration, clarity and finding a calmness of mind to promote management of stress. Classes will incorporate music and games in a non-competitive atmosphere. Yoga needs to be fun and enjoyable!
